INSTALLING RESIDENTIAL SHADE (SAILSHADES, CAR PORT SHADE ETC.) USING OUR SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED OVAL MOUNTING BASES AND 2-INCH TELESCOPING CARBIEPOLES
We have done extensive strength testing on our poles and bases. The 2″ OVAL bases are meant to work with the 2 inch poles for your HOME (patio/deck/sailshade etc.). Why? Because the shade itself is likely to be larger than a boat’s shade, and the base itself has been designed with this pressure/weight in mind. The poles can be used for sailshades, awnings, car ports etc. ***The attachment point of the oval base to the ground is the weakest point.*** A support strap is essential to distribute the pressure when the pole is under load AND it secures the poles to the base or ground. It does not have to be a strap, it can be rigging wire or marine grade line or rope. Your canvas fabricator can make you a strap with a snaphook and webbing, which is easily attached to a cleat or padeye on your deck or patio. If you don’t install the support strap, the base may lift out of the wood/concrete when under load.
